Peta’s exhibition in London

Chalk Art Group member Peta Bridle has an exhibition called ‘London Day by Day’ opening at Southwark Cathedral on Thursday 3rd September and running until Wednesday 14th October.

Peta is a meticulous artist who draws subjects in great detail then uses inks and sometimes watercolours to bring life to the pictures. Well done on all your hard work, to have an exhibition at Southwark Cathedral is amazing!

At last weekend’s workshop Peta came along too and sat quietly by the big window to paint her own pictures.

She begins by intricately drawing the subjects then adding colourful watercolours for all the details.

Peta has finished two more of her amazing pictures. The first, of bellringers in Southwark, London, is painted with ink and shows intricate details and has great depth of field.

The second, of a turnip stall in Borough Market, also Southwark, with the vegetables looking real. One could reach out and touch the feathery mushroom caps on and smell the herbs.

Peta has an exhibition of giclée prints of her amazing sketches of London at the St.Andrew’s Arts Centre starting on Thursday 4th September to Thursday 18th. Please see the flyer for the exact days and times as it’s not open every day.

As per one of Tracy’s previous emails, Gravesend Art Group’s exhibition starts tomorrow and overlaps Peta’s by a few days. Handy to go and see both on the same day!

Peta’s sketches of independent London shops

Peta’s sketches of independent London shops have been published online on the Spitalfields Life website. Drawn in pencil then coloured in brown, black and blue ink, the subject evokes life as it was with independent shops on every High Street.

They’re fantastic sketches, Peta, you have such an amazing skill with a pencil and brush.

Peta’s exhibition

Peta has an exhibition soon of her amazing London sketches, full of character and skill.

From Wednesday 26th February to Tuesday 25th March in the cafe of The Good Shepherd Building, 15a Davies Lane, Leytonstone, London. The nearest transport is Leytonstone Station on the Central Line.

The private view is on Thursday 27th February from 6-8pm and all are welcome!

The exhibition will be a collection of pencil and ink sketches made on location around London, with 12 framed giclee prints on show and a selection of giclee prints for sale.
